Mission & Objectives
Mission
CEE GN aims at becoming an independent
and democratic coalition of national disease umbrella groups,
representing families involved in genetic and congenital conditions.
CEE GN is working to achieve a voice
in health policy and research and seeks to ensure that genetic
diseases are understood, effectively treated and, where possible,
prevented, and that those people who are affected with these
diseases are supported.
CEE GN will voice and articulate
a clear, patient focussed perspective on genetic, medical
and biotechnological issues as well as their ethical, legal,
psycho-social and cultural implications on a European and
a National political, scientific and industrial arena.
Objectives
CEE GN is focused on understanding
the common needs of patients with genetic diseases and their
families in order to improve the medical care these patients
receive consistent with the level received in other EU countries.
CEE GN aims to raise awareness of
the needs of the people with genetic and rare conditions and
organisations in Central and Eastern Europe on governmental,
public, scientific and industrial level.
CEE GN aims to promote research
on causes and cures for these conditions, and to press for
the development and availability of medical products and services
that will benefit all who need them quickly and efficiently.
CEE GN aims to raise awareness about
health care situation, health care policy and inequalities
concerning genetic disorders including rare diseases in Central
and Eastern European countries on local as well as on European
levels, and strive for improvements.
CEE GN works to actively promote
understanding of genetic and rare diseases and to stimulate
interaction between governments, physicians, regulators, industry

in scientific research for the development of new drug, for
better services facilitating legislation, and equitable healthcare
budgets in CEE countries.
CEE GN welcomes collaboration with
other networks of patient organisations, scientific and industrial
groups as far as this serves the interest of patients in CEE
countries and has a focus on research & development in
the fields of genetics, genomics and biotechnology.
